WHAT: This is California’s most innovative bead & design event! It is known for its massive list of exhibitors and for having the most exciting names in artisan bead making and contemporary design. The show highlights include 300 artisan booths, galleries, merchant displays, design performances, and workshops.
COST: $10 per person. Children under 18 are FREE.

WHAT: Weezer is one of the best rock bands to hail from Los Angeles, formed in 1992 with original members Rivers Cuomo and Patrick Wilson while picking up current members Brian Bell and Scott Shriner along the way. They are an alternative rock band with a unique style and refreshing tunes that make folks want to get out of their seats and dance. If you want to unravel a darn good time, see Weezer live and gear up for some sheer excitement.

WHAT: Now you can enjoy your own kind of dark hovering flow with Mission Sake, an event that collects an interstellar variety of sake from around the world (courtesy Mutual Trading Company) to be paired with various foods and hors d’oeuvres from top-notch, local restaurants.

WHAT: Drenched 5K Run gives you the chance to beat the heat harder than a one-legged man in an behind-kicking contest (Google it — it’s happened). Drenched 5K benefits Children’s Hospital L.A. as it puts you through a gauntlet of slip-and-slides, sprinkler zones, oodles of foam and puddles of bubbles, misting tunnels, water-balloon fusillades and the peril of water snipers.
COST: $40, $55, $65 (signup website)

Jazz Festival -July27&28- Weekend Guide

The 18th Annual Central Avenue Jazz Festival

WHEN: July 27 & 28, 11:30 am – 6:00 pm
WHERE: Dunbar Hotel
4225 S. Central Ave.
Los Angeles,CA 90011

WHAT: Jazz in Los Angeles centers around the Dunbar Hotel and the surrounding district on Central Avenue in South L.A. Honoring that legacy is now the mission of the Central Avenue Jazz Festival. The street in front of the Dunbar will host acts including the Gerald Wilson Orchestra, Gilbert Castellanos, Ernie Andrews and many more. Check it out, and you’ll likely get a sense of what some consider the golden age of jazz in Los Angeles.
