2013 US Windsurfing National Championship

WHEN: August 9, Start 11AM
WHERE: Cabrillo Beach Yacht Club
211 West 22nd Street
San Pedro, CA 90731

WHAT: The 2013 Nationals will feature course racing for Formula, One Design and Open Class Windsurfers. Courses will be set inside the breakwater, outside the breakwater or both so that will make for exciting spectator viewing. Separate courses will be set up and races held for the different classes simultaneously so there will be plenty of action to entertain and awe the crowds.
COST: $140 adults & $100 for kids under 20 to enter competition, Free to spectate

Aug9- Weekend Guide Long Beach26th Annual Long Beach Jazz Festival

WHEN: August 9 @ 7PM, Festival gates open at 5PM

WHAT: The only Southern California Jazz Festival staged on a gorgeous grassy knoll in a beautiful Lagoon setting. Long Beach Jazz Festival features some of the top artists of the year and includes VIP seating in an incredible outdoor setting with a great selection of food, art and much more.

Brew at the L.A. Zoo

WHEN: August 9 @ 6PM – 10PM
WHERE: Los Angeles Zoo

WHAT: Spend an evening sampling a huge selection of beer from local craft brewers and microbreweries at the beautiful Los Angeles Zoo and Botanical Gardens. Enjoy live local entertainment and delicious pub-style food while visiting many of the Zoo’s animal residents.

ILWU Walk the Coast event Aug 10ILWU Walk the Coast in Los Angeles

WHEN: August 10, 9:30AM – 3PM
WHERE: Outer Harbor 55 Warehouse

San Pedro, CA

WHAT: Help fight childhood cancer while having lots of fun! ILWU Walk the Coast in Los Angeles is a fundraising event for Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation. There will be great food, bands, entertainment, kids jumper games, classic car show, police and fire vehicles, and 6-plane Tiger Squadron fly-over accompanied by a full L.A. City fire boat water display.
COST: Free to attend, Donations are welcome. Purchase an event t-shirt to help support the cause.

WHAT: Don’t miss this laugh-out-loud comedy about sports, fatherhood, and two highly unlikely friends. Coach Don lives for the start of Little League. He is all about winning. It is only a coincidence that his son is the star player. Michael, Don’s new assistant coach, thinks winning is no big deal, just as long as the kids have fun. Michael’s son is… awkward.
