Every Longshoreman enjoys time off! Sooooo…what are you doing this weekend? We ask ourselves that every week and then rack our brains trying to figure out how to have fun and relax over the weekend. San Pedro Farmers Market

What: Get out and support local farmers and growers around San Pedro. Everyone knows that fresh, ripe fruits and vegetables, organically grown, are better for you and really taste great. Make grocery day Friday. Buy some flowers, honey, eggs, crafts or a tasty cooked treat from a local and bring them home for the family to enjoy. Go out and benefit local, San Pedro folks, be healthier and put smiles on the faces of everyone that gets some goodies.

Cost: FREE (NOTE: Reservations required for groups)
What: Cabrillo Marine Aquarium educators conduct tours of the Point Fermin tidepools. Watch a visual presentation about the area, then venture out to see nature at its finest. Please wear outdoor clothing and shoes for walking along the shoreline. Be advised that small children have to be accompanied by adults.

What: Patt Morrison, multiple award winner (Emmy, Golden Mike Award, and Pulitzer Prize) is a Los Angeles Times columnist, radio and television commentator, and author. Whale Fiesta

Where: Cabrillo Marine Aquarium, 3720 Stephen M. White Drive, San Pedro, CA 90731
Cost: FREE
What: It is the start of whale watching season and you can be one of the first to see the Pacific gray whale. This event includes a life sized Pacific gray whale sculpted out of sand and a Duct Tape Whale Sculpture Contest. (Another interesting use for duct tape) Come out and have a “whale” of a good time!
