Summer Concert Series on the LA Waterfront
Thursday, August 16 at 6 PM
Admission: FREE. Bring your chair and enjoy free, live music. Pre-concert entertainment for this Thursday: Dodger Street Team. After, enjoy Britain’s Finest, a Beatles tribute band. Location: Gateway Plaza Fanfare Fountains in San Pedro, CA 90731 (Harbor Blvd. and Vincent Thomas Bridge). Free Concerts at Redondo Beach Pier

Admission: FREE. Summer of Music concert series at Redondo Beach Pier. This Thursday (August 16) enjoy Christian Anthony. The reggae/rock band, West Swell will play on Saturday (August 18). Location: 100 Fisherman’s Wharf in Redondo Beach, CA 90277.

Admission: FREE; parking is $5. A park atmosphere with carnival rides and games, and the best BBQ chefs from around the country. There will be live entertainment for adults and children along with artisan exhibits and cantinas. Also experience the VIP Rib Village open to only a select few who purchase their tickets ahead of time. VIP Rib Village tickets cost $65 per adults, $20 for young adults (12-16 years of age), $10 for children (up to 11 years of age) and include all-you-can-eat ribs, drinks (non-alcoholic, beer or wine), sides and dessert. Tiki Beach Festival ‘Ohana by the Sea’

Admission: FREE. Enjoy hundreds of Polynesian dancers, musicians, and fire dancers. Sample delicious Hawaiian food, shop the Island marketplace, check out a tiki museum, and watch outrigger canoe races (Aug.18). On August 19, visitors can take outrigger canoe rides. Los Angeles Navy Days 2012
Saturday, August 18 9 AM-3 PM
Sunday, August 19 10 AM-3PM
Admission: FREE, but you must register at the Port of LA website. Parking is $1 per hour. Get a free public tour of a US Navy Destroyer and the US Coast Guard Cutter George Cobb. Arrive 30 minutes before your arrival time. Tour of the USS Iowa is not included in this public tour. For more information about this event, visit the Port of LA website.

25 cent Family Flicks at the Chinese Theatres

Admission: $0.25-$1.25. Parking is $2. The 25 cent admissions take place on Saturdays only, during the months of July and August. Movies begin at 10 AM. This Saturday (8/18) enjoy Monsters vs. Aliens. Location: Chinese Theatres, 6801 Hollywood Blvd in Hollywood, CA 90028. 4th Annual Long Beach Funk Fest

Admission: FREE for all ages. Like the website states, ‘Long Beach Funk Fest is all about the funk, the whole funk, and nuttin but the funk!’ Celebrate the 70s funk fests and enjoy artists like Delta Nove, the Sea Funk Brass Band, the Bootsy Girls, Zootzilla, Family Stone, Brides of Funkenstein, Dumpstaphunk, Dennis Coffey and more!
