Is Your Identity Protected?

As a ILWU Credit Union member, your identity is protected, but how many of you actually knew that, or still have this service? All ILWUCU accounts are automatically enrolled in iProtect. The service provides a complete identity recovery system in the event of identity theft.

What is identity theft?
“Identity theft occurs when someone uses your personally identifying information, like your name, Social Security number, or credit card number, without your permission, to commit fraud or other crimes.” [source]

How much does iProtect cost?
iProtect costs $1.50 per month. For your convenience, the amount is automatically deducted from your ILWUCU account and listed as “iProtect fee” on your statement. You can opt out of the service at any time by simply contacting us. But before you do so, keep in mind that similar services can cost of average of $14-15 per month. Also, consider the next questions.

What does iProtect include?
With iProtect you work hand-in-hand with a certified identity recovery advocate in the event of of identity theft. What does this mean? Someone else will do the work for you. An identity recovery advocate will place fraud alerts at the three major credit bureaus for you; help you access services to watch for signs of identity theft; and access your credit reports and conduct a threat assessment to determine if any identity theft has occurred. You will also receive free credit report monitoring for 12 months after the incident occurs. List of additional iProtect services can be found here.

What accounts are covered under iProtect?
Here’s the best part: your ILWU Credit Union accounts receive this protection, but so do your other accounts – those not related to the ILWU Credit Union.

Who is covered under iProtect?
iProtects extends to all named accountholders, their spouse/domestic partner and dependents up to 25 years of age*. If you suspect any type of identity theft and are currently enrolled in iProtect, contact us right away.

I’m not sure if I’m currently enrolled in iProtect. What do I do? 
Contact our Member Services department at (310) 834-6411 to make sure you have a guaranteed and complete identity recovery system.

*Services extend to all named accountholders, their spouse or domestic partner, dependents up to age 25 with the same permanent residence address as the accountholder, including students and military, and parents of the accountholder living at the same address as the accountholder, or living in hospice, assisted living, nursing home or deceased for 12 months or less.
