Never Forgetting the People Around Us

Giving back to the community has always been something that is near and dear to our hearts. We understand that there are people around the world that don’t have enough to make ends meet. You don’t have to travel far to see this. Next time you’re driving to work, count the people you see walking and consider that every 4th person you see may be living under the poverty line. (Based on census information)

We recently spoke with Lauren Johnson, the Development Associate at Rainbow Services. Rainbow Services provides support and assistance for women and children dealing with family violence. She had this to say about our recent involvement with their organization: “The support of ILWU Credit Union helps Rainbow serve women and children recovering from lives of trauma. For clients served by Rainbow Services, the support of their community brings a sense of belonging and aids their healing. We thank you on behalf of those women and children whose lives you have touched.”

You don’t have to volunteer every weekend to a local food bank or donate your life savings to make a difference. The smallest things can make the biggest impact. Even holding the door open with a smile for someone can easily make someone’s day. Remember, it doesn’t take much time to lend a helping hand whether it is through a kind act, volunteer work or a donation.

What are you waiting for? Go out there and make a difference!
