An Online Introduction

You’ve probably noticed a little bit more activity on the ILWUCU Facebook page and blog. There’s a reason for that.

My name is Alejandra Gutierrez – Alex for short, and I’m the new Social Media Specialist for the ILWU Credit Union. My responsibilities include handling the company’s Facebook page and blog and assisting with general marketing tasks. A few fun facts about me: I’m a South Bay native, UCLA grad and new to the credit union world. I’ve worked for start-ups, public agencies and once upon a time I even bagged groceries.

I feel very fortunate to be part of the ILWU Credit Union and look forward to learning more about you – our members and community.

So what is social media? Facebook automatically comes to mind, but social media includes so much more. If it is on the web and allows for interactive dialogue, then it is part of social media. Think not just Facebook, but YouTube, Twitter, Google+, LinkedIn, Flickr, Yelp, Foursquare, blogs… the list goes on and on. I love the industry and the power it has to transform the relationships between businesses and consumers.
